About the founder of MJ Sheerin CPA, MST
Mary Jo Melendez Sheerin was raised in Southern Spain by a Spanish mother and an American father. She speaks both Spanish and English fluently. Mary Jo began her accounting studies in Spain. In 1991 she moved to Wayne, New Jersey, where she attended and later graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Accounting from William Paterson College of New Jersey. She later earned her Masters of Science in Taxation from Golden Gate University.
During her career Mary Jo worked for very reputable firms in several states, New York, New Jersey and North Carolina. At these companies she was an integral member of their Taxation Department and Audit Department, where she gained valuable expertise and experience in Tax, Accounting and Assurance Services.
Mary Jo Melendez Sheerin has a Masters of Science in Taxation and is a Certified Public Accountant, certified in New York and North Carolina. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants (NCACPA). She is also a member of the North Carolina Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (NCHCC) and served as a member of the Women’s Power Networking Executive Rountable, a segment of Women’s Power Networking headquartered in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Mary Jo is a devoted animal lover and has made it her mission to donate 10% of the total gross proceeds of MJ Sheerin CPA, MST to various animal charities. Among the charities included are: The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), The Defenders of Wildlife, the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), among others.
